fiver

Arrange 25 people standing up in a 5x5 grid (although it could be any grid).
If someone sits down, then the 4 people in front, behind, left and right of this person must also sit down. However, if they are already sitting down, they must stand up.
The aim is to get all the students sitting down in as few moves as possible.
What is the minimum possible number of moves?
Investigate for different grids.
This was inspired by the game Fiver, which I first came across on MazeWorks.
Other games on this website that you could recreate with people include Sliders and Hare and Hounds.
